A wandering Medicine Seller, the Kusuriuri uses an enchanted sword to slay the “mononoke”, a type of ayakashi or unnatural spirits that linger in the human world. In order to successfully perform the exorcism, the Medicine Seller must find the Katachi (shape), Mokoto (truth), and the Kotowari (reasoning) of the mononoke. Once the sword is unsheathed, he transforms into a demon-like creature.I’m guessing this is what the Medicine Seller looks like right before his transformation.
